Inspector Murray Provan of the Health and Safety Executive feels strongly about the irresponsible actions of the employers, resulting in unsafe working conditions for the employees. He believes that many of these incidents could be averted with suitable safety and protection measures. According to him, it was the responsibility of Mr. Pratt, who at the time of the incident was the site manager in charge of providing his workers with sufficient protection.
Murray also pointed out Mr. Pratt’s callous attitude, which led to the fatal accident, by not providing the victim with the required safety and protection equipment and failing to intimate his worker about the actual risks involved in the task. Murray said that the company and Pratt were fully accountable for their actions.
