DSL isn’t dead yet. While the cable companies and telecommunication operators such as Verizon , and even think to be the potential of optical fiber, Qwest’s view, fiber mix added DSL to the home node, specifically, is a fresh technology that can improve our spot as winners of the speed, up to 40Mbps The.
Qwest DSL will announce its plan to offer higher DSL speeds in 23 markets over the next few months. The Qwest has been improving its system for couple of years, running fiber from its central offices to latest remote terminals with high-speed VDSL2 electronics closer to subscriber’s houses.
The actual speed will vary and this is because of the distance from the remote terminal. Although Travis Leo, Qwest’s DSL director did say that “almost all” can get 12Mbps speeds. He wouldn’t provide any numbers on how many subscribers can in fact acquire 40Mbps downloads. Speeds approaching 40MBps are only possible for those near remote terminals. But , you ought to have an extra modem connection to acquire this.
It sounds decidedly obscure if you match it hand-in-hand to FiOS or DOCSIS 3. It offers more reliability to the majority of customers who subscribe at 50Mbps. deployments can now reach 100Mbps Though it may not be perfect, it provides about the best DSL service available in the United Service. AT&T’s top speed tier to my suburban Chicago home is worthless 6Mbps that I’ve never reached more than 5Mbps.
Verizon with a view to delink hte DSL tag from its operations, is shedding off its holdings in DSL business Even if the whole DSL service providers know that “fiber” refers to the “future, Qwest’s clearly the time being,” an advanced optical fiber technology to brings the next growth of Internet services to your neighbors. ” 3 million households will soon be covered by Qwest’s fiber to the node deployment, and should be able to reach12Mbps relationship and 40Mbps things. sign of the (Web Version Number 2.0) Qwest has responded to the demands of its customers by upgrading its networking for faster upload times. At 20 Mbps due, subscribers should see much less lag in speed due to less stress on the system. 20Mbps DSL service currently presents download in 768kbps speed..
Leo stressed repeatedly that Qwest doesn’t believe broadband sales is truly a speed-focused game, and that Qwest’s “value-added” services would close the speed gap with cable. In the coming years, the company can always explore new channel-bonding technology or just run fiber out from its remote terminals and up to people’s homes Some technology a company can put into place when increased speed is needed include running fiber from remote terminals to residences , as well as innovative channel-bonding.

There seems to be a huge craze lately with everyone trying to blog and ping to get their websites indexed into the search engines. Although this can be a great tool, all marketers should first understand exactly what they’re getting themselves into before starting.
This article is to serve as a beginners guide to getting started with blogging and pinging.
1. What is a blog?
A “blog” is short for “web log.” A web log is an online diary or journal. The main aspect blog is that it is frequently updated - at least once a week, sometimes every day or even more.
Since blogs are regularly updated, they tend to carry more value than regular static HTML pages (in some cases).
2. What is a ping?
A ping is a program that sends out a brief request for a response from another computer or server. When you ping on the Internet, you send out a program to see if a remote server is responding.
3. How do bloggers use pings?
Two main reasons to use pings with blogs: First and foremost is to let the search engines know that you have updated your website so they can send their spiders.
Secondly, pings also update the websites on the internet who are using your blog on their site (through a feature called RSS feeds, they are displaying your messages on their site).
4. So what is the big deal about blogging and pinging?
Smart affiliate marketers use blogging and pinging to help get their sites crawled and indexed by the search engine spiders a lot quicker than they normally would.
They set up a blog either on their main site or on a sub-domain of their site. They then post links to their product pages on their blog and send out a ping to all the major servers on the Internet.
That ping says “This site has fresh content, time to go add it to your database!” It’s a trigger that sends the search spiders looking for updated pages on your site. When they find the new pages, search engines tend to index them much faster.
Blogging and pinging will not get you into EVERY search engine overnight. As of this writing, it is most effective with getting into Yahoo. But often MSN, and even Google, will follow in short order.
Combine blogging and pinging with good link recruiting for the best indexing.
Also, blog and ping on a regular basis if you want to “stay” indexed in the search engines.
6. Is blogging and pinging a requirement to get indexed?
No. You can get indexed quickly by getting plenty of natural backlinks. But for backlinks to be most effective, they have to appear as if they were natural and this can take weeks if not months. Blogging and pinging does seem to drastically shorten the process.
7. Is there a downside to blogging and pinging?
Yes, some marketers are starting to abuse this strategy and the engines are getting wise to it! If you go over-board you risk getting your website completely banned and removed.
Also, many marketers are blogging and pinging for a few days and then forgetting about the website - your website will likely be de-indexed if you do not continue to naturally blog and ping.
The bottom line is that blogging and pinging is a great strategy right now to help you get your website indexed faster. However, the old natural way of getting incoming links is still the best and most assured way - not to mention the long-term benefits of having incoming links.
If you have not yet started blogging and pinging, I suggest you start with a practice website first, not your main website.

Are simply frustrated in reading meaningless articles and junk on the Internet and having to go through hundreds of pages of Internet Listings to get to the information you are looking for? Do you sometimes wonder what good is the Internet if it is completely filled with junk? Well you are certainly not alone. A recent survey of Internet Surfers showed that over 60% were dissatisfied with the search results coming back when surfing. They listed most all the Major Search engines and really none were deemed better than satisfactory.
This is an upsetting, as the Internet was the bright star of the future. A better communication system that was to hold all the world’s information of the human endeavor, something we can all be proud of and indeed all is not lost yet. Remembering that those companies which operate “search engines” are in fact commercial businesses that are in business to make money; it should not be surprising that some of the search results you get are paid ads and some are websites disguising information as sales ads or infomercials. We see the same thing on our TVs, as the average between commercials is now less than 7 minutes. Time it yourself sometime.
There are ways to get the search engines to bring you your desired results and if you will go to the advanced search and spend a half a day reading and practicing with it all you will save yourself days if not weeks of future searching time over the next few years. We spend hours in traffic on our freeways, highways and toll-ways, which take our time. If there was a shorter route home from work, which would save you time and fuel, well wouldn’t you take it? Think on this.

Now, I build content-sites, and in my free time, I still build more and more. To my definition, a content-site is more or less like what James Martell does. I would research for keywords, define my topics, list the content that I want to have in my site, and then start writing (or get somebody else to write for me).
Done with that, then it’s about building the site, putting web pages together and getting a domain name and web hosting.
After that, you go around looking for link partners.
I suppose most people understand what a blog is. But just in case for some newbie readers, I’ll try to explain what it is. A blog is a site that contains articles after articles written one after the other. The content is not being written all in one go upfront. But it is rather being updated along the way.
A blog lists the articles in a chronology manner, being the latest, the first. MoneyClicking.net is a blog. A blog is normally supported by a system or a script. You can use Blogger.com (remote hosted), Wordpress (PHP script), Movable Type (Perl script), etc.
Anyway, back to the topic. I was on the phone with my friend, we concluded it’s better to have a blog because it’s easier to get traffic with it.
Why? Well, there are some mechanics of a blog and also the culture of blogging that makes it much easier.
For one thing it’s easier to get incoming links. Let me tell you how.
[+] Reason #1: Blog Ping
First of all, there’s this thing called - PING. With a blog ping, when ever you write a new article in your blog, you can set addresses to a few ping sites to tell them that you just updated your blog. When you do that, you’ll get a link back to your site. Ping sites are like Technorati.com and BlogRolling.com. News sites like MSN News, Yahoo News and MoreOver, also have ping addresses.
Now, maybe you won’t be listed very long on that page, because many other blogs are also pinging to those sites. But more or less, it’ll help. I’ve gone through my web statistics and traffic do come from the sites that I pinged.
[+] Reason #2: Trackback
Secondly, there’s also TRACKBACK. Now, I was with a friend explaining how trackbacks work last week. Now I’ll tell you. With blogs, for every article that you write, there will be a unique URL for it. And for each article, there’s also a unique trackback URL. Whenever you are at another person’s blog, look for trackback URL, and you may want to copy it.
Now here’s how you use a trackback URL. Let say you are at somebody else’s blog. And he just wrote about something about cat grooming. And somehow, you feel that you have something to say about what he wrote and you know, what you want to say will be very long which may not be suitable for a comment. So you write your own message at your blog, and lower down the interface, you enter the other guy’s trackback URL, and then you hit the Submit button.
Now, that new article will appear on your blog. And because you put in a trackback URL, a part of your article will also appear in the other guy’s article as a comment. And that comment links directly back to your article. So that’s how trackbacks work.
[+] Reason #3: Blog Comments
Now, my third point on why blog is better than content-site Blog Comments. This is where you able to go around at other blog sites and write some comments on articles. And you even leave a link back to your site. But here’s the thing, just make sure that your comments are genuine, because now days, there are too many people spamming blog comments just to get a link back.
[+] Reason #4: Bloggers’ Linking Habit
OK, here’s some more. This is more a blogging culture thing bloggers like to link to each other. If your blog is interesting, it’s easy to get other bloggers to link back to you. Whether you ask for it on your website, or sometimes they just simply give you a link back. I’ve got this many times, and most of the times, they link back write to a specific message. And sometimes, they just list blog sites that they like on their website.
[+] Reason #5: Faster SE Indexing
This is getting quite long already. But I am not done. When it comes to getting traffic, you may not realize this, but it’s easier to get indexed in the search engines with a blog. I don’t know why perhaps it’s because incoming links are more natural and you don’t really go around asking for them. And when the incoming links are more natural, I think search engine will prefer it a lot more.
I myself have experienced where new content on my blog was indexed in under seven days.
[+] Reason #6: Repeat Visitors
Now, after you get traffic from search engines, ping sites, and other blogs, later you’ll start to realize that 80-90% of your visitors are repeat visitors. It’s common with a blog. So the point is with this one it’s easier to retain visitors with a blog.
You get huge traffic from multiple sources and the ones you already have you get to keep. This is different from content-sites, where you really so much on search engine traffic.
[+] Blogging Seems Much More Fun …
In my experience, starting from scratch, in six month, a content-site may or may not reach to mark of 1000 visitors per day. And it takes serious hours writing content and building incoming links. I have multiple sites consistently doing 100-200 visitors per day, after six month. But with a blog, it’s not unusual if a blog reaches 3000 visitors per day, provided you give good content.
But I suppose, it all boils down to which you are comfortable with.
Realizing this, I may be planning differently in the future but I am not certain on that yet. From the looks of it, blogging seems much more fun. You write about what you like, and you network with other bloggers. And the writing part becomes much, much easier with scripts like WordPress and Movable Type. Not much designing, no uploading files, less link building, etc …
With building content-sites, you still have to build the website again, upload them up to your web hosting, build incoming links, etc …
This is my opinion. And you may not think the same way I do, based on your personal experience and knowledge. I respect that.

Apart from the chat rooms, instant messengers and electronic mails created for communication and dialogue beyond turf are the emerging innovations that help man build opportunities for interaction. The need for a personalized and human face aspect of building online communities is slowly changing the technological landscape of the Internet.
Blogs / “weblogs” or blogging are the newest gift of Internet technology to people all over the world. These are updated posts, crop up entries or personalized life snippets, of mundane or bizarre in nature. For most, a “blog” is a personal, unedited, and authentic journal meant to be shared in an online community. Blog site is a place where bloggers can publish anything; his thoughts, feelings, photos, special events, experiences, comments on issues and so on. It is more of an online diary with videos, links, documents, newsletters and opinions on just about any topics you are interested.
Blogs are made to welcome the insights and opinions of all and therefore, should not be written to sound intimidating and too formal. This kind of blog is a sure way to put off the readers. In the basics of blogging, conversational tone would be more appropriate to reach the desired audience.
Blogging is all about individuals reaching out to other individuals. Having a blog has its own set of advantages: ? Freedom of Expression. If you want people to hear you out and give their own opinion, this is the best way to create a line of communication; ? Networking is at its best. Having a blog is a good platform for exchanging genuine ideas from consumers to you as marketer of a certain product. Sound opinion and point of view is better than just showing the price quote; ? Excellent advertising platform. Blogging is a new way to advertise products, a refreshing change from the traditional advertising outlets and it is cost-effective. ? Gauging public opinion on products and services. The key is nice and catchy titles with new ideas presented in your content. This is an assurance of quick and repeated responses from your readers. Blogs is an excellent spot for the exchange of ideas between the seller and the consumer. Good for measuring public opinion regarding services and products, even political and business matters alike. ? Useful tool for internal communication. This will help your company to build a knowledge-based community of employees. Also good for harnessing employee relations and identifying human resource issues in advance. ? Other benefits like search engine optimization (SEO) will help your blogs to be seen often by as many people as you wish. This is very good exposure for your products and services.
Many blog hosting services are available on the Internet. But the basic question is which one of the services will be the best to start off your business blog program? Business people are usually clueless to recent technological innovations which would help them maximize their marketing potentials. For these beginners, it is best to study first the services offered by blog hosts. An ineffective business blogging program may damage marketing opportunities instead of enriching them.
A company may decide to do the following depending on its capacity and needs: 1) Host their own blog service, 2) Pay someone else to host the service, or 3) Setup a “blog aggregator page” and ask the employees to select their blog hosting services individually. There are paid and free services available for individuals.
For business blogs, they are required to have the latest blogging features; if not, this will prevent them from maximizing their marketing, public relations and SEO potentials.
Keep in mind that blogs should have the following basic essentials:
COMMENTS. Welcoming comments provide opportunity for dialogue. In business blogs, they are a good customer feedback mechanism. This helps develop better customer relations based from loyalty and trust. Blogging is an innovative way to converse with your customers. TRACKBACK. This helps in maximizing company and product exposure. Through this service, consumers can get back to you for more posts and updates without the difficulty of locating you. If your blog is popular in a specific online community chances are links going back to your blog site are everywhere online, other blog sites or even websites. CATEGORIES AND TAGS. These both help in classifying blog searches for ease of navigation and on site search. Categories act as libraries because it classifies posts by subject matter such as business, distance learning, e-commerce, online auctions, etc. Tags, help in the classification, especially in the blog search engine Technorati. Possible customers and new clients locate blogs about certain topics of interest by just clicking the tags. RSS FEED. Really Simple Syndication is the feed from your blog that is sent out over the internet, and collected through the various newsreaders and aggregators.
If your company is to establish a business blogging program, considerable options should be made available by the hosting companies shortlisted for the services. Free blog hosting services are popular but they are much appropriate for individual online journals. Paid blog hosting services offer unlimited packages best for your company’s needs. You may want to suggest checking out some blogs that use the host first, read and examine their layout and design. Another important thing to consider is a reliable technical support the host has.
After, choosing the blog host, a team should be ready to plan the design and structure of the blog: The team should: ? create a style that meets the needs of the audience; ? establish an open, credible tone; ? schedule weekly updating of blog - ideally, a few times a week; ? include weblinks of other website and blogs; ? blog post should be in the “first person;” ? focus on the business blog objective; and, ? maintain an honest, engaging conversational quality.
Remember, whatever the look, style and content found on your blog is a reflection of you and your company.

The only box you really should be is in a pine box. Make your life interesting and go against the grain. In most of America people are trained and pre programmed to act and work in common ways, known and predictable. This creates order. Everyone goes down the highway on the right side of the road. What if you went down on the left? Would you be wrong? Not if you were in England. I am from Kansas. Another world and and in another time. I don’t play by the rules for I don’t see them. I abide by our common laws and moral values but I am wired differently. I don’t follow your roads. To get out of your ruts, get of the road.
The best things in life are free is dead wrong. The best things in life are things that you get paid to collect. For many years I would advertise to pay for broken mowers. Many people saved my adds and would call me months after the adds expired. One day someone called me and asked if I would still pickup mowers,I said I had so many I didn’t need any more. They then asked how much would I charge to pick one up. Bingo, I realised that I should be charging not paying. Immediatly I reran the adds and announced that would pick them up for a fee. I actually got more mowers. I don’t know why but people even treated me better when I went to their homes. I guess they thought I wasn’t under paying them for the mowers or something like that. This was a turning point in my life. I realised that I could collect things I wanted and get paid for it. Like working and enjoying it. I decided that from now on I would make sure that I turn the table on all my problems. I would make the problem a solution. I would make any thing I like to do part of my work. I liked to grow trees and plants. So of course I raise them for profit and here is how it came about….
Of course you have heard that, “Money grows on trees”, or, “Buy land because they’re not making any more of it”. How many times? I first heard about it when I was 5 from my great uncle, Uncle Bill. Uncle Bill was wealthy, retired and living the good life in Sarasota Florida. I was impressed with his big house, boat, and all his toys that successful people collect. He was a forestry graduate of Penn State and had made a ton of money. As I grew up he would visit us once a year. I always listened to his stories and was convinced that he could never be wrong. He had made his fortune selling traffic signals (red lights). High tech for his day. I can remember him telling my father that if he was starting all over he would buy land in Maine and grow Christmas trees on it. Listening in and hearing this I thought it was secret market information that is only repeated to close friends and family. I thought I would never tell anyone for if I did, well, it would lose its value and everyone would be doing it. Sort of like the pig market cycle. One minute trees would be scarce and bingo, the next minute there would be surpluses and the market value would crash. As I grew up, some say I never have, I wanted to do just that. Grow trees and buy land, lots and lots of land, and of course plant lots and lots of trees. In 1973 I graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon Pa with a BS in Chemistry. It was at Juniata that I met my future wife. I proceded to go out and get a job with in Lahaska, Pa.. I really wanted to start growing trees. So I bought 160 acres of land in the mountains of Virginia in Allegehany County. The purchase price for this mountain land was $150 per acre. I was working in Bucks County Pa. and felt that if I worked day and night I could pay for this property in a few years. The older lady who sold me this property sold it to me for 1/2 down and the balance in one year with no interest. Making about $6.00 per hour and borrowing $12000 for the initial payment, I proceeded to go into debt. During this year I proceeded to start to pay down on the property. I did get married later in the year and my wife and I started our real estate purchases. Within 2 years we had paid off this property. We bought our first house and started saving money for a Bucks County Farm. We both had our day jobs and at night and on weekends we mowed lawns. After 5 years we had enough down money to buy a 38 acre farm in Doylestown Pa. Keeping our first house as a rental, we moved to our farm. This farm had a purchase price of $210,000, and a payment of $1493 a month. We named this property, Highland Hill Farm. It was at this point that we came up with the plan that we followed that helped us to fund the purchases of all our farms and properties. I called this plan,” My dollar a day plan”. We reasoned that each day we should work on projects that will in the future pay off with an income stream of $1 per day or save me $1 per day from my current costs. Each day would be considered sucessful if that goal was met. All costs and all projects and work was measured in that manner. If we could set up a low cost plan that could reap the benifit of $1 a day we would work on it. The goal of the dollar per day was not important, just the attempt. We would work on the idea until it would be completed or given up on. We reasoned that one could spend hundreds of dollars on each idea, because when it would work out, the pay back would be hundreds of dollars per year. After many days my income would be increasing and it would help fund the plan. Our morgage payment was greater than our combined take home pay. This meant we had to bust xxx. So we had to work every night mowing lawns and doing extra work. We started to plant Norway Spruce and White Pine Trees. We started with the smallest and the cheapest trees we could afford. We started with 2-4″ seedlings. Since we felt it would be years before these trees would be saleable we kept up our lawn route. As our children arrived they went with us on our lawn route and we back packed them as we mowed lawns. Within 2 years the first batch of trees were marketable! We sold 2-3′ pines and spruces for $8.00 each deleivered and planted. These trees sold like hot cakes! Thus a few pennies for seedlings could be converted to many dollars within a few years. This would add many dollars per day to our plan. We also rented out barn space. Within one month of ownership we had almost $1500 in rent per month from barn spaces. We purchased Scottish Highland cows.I like to eat and I loved having cows on the farm when I grew up so I figured get paid to raise what you like and eat the rest. These cows would save us from buying meat. We had a garden for vegetables and fruit trees in our pasture. When I cleaned up the dead branches I found a place to sell them for smoking meats. The garden saved on buying vegetables. Being asked to do lawn cleanups and remove items from customer properties, we began to do small hauling jobs. We found that a lot of good stuff is thrown out so we started collecting used lumber, plumbing supplies, and anything we thought we could reuse or salvage. Everything we did was directed towards being self sufficient, cost saving, and income production. (I know if I told you all the ways we saved you would not believe me so I will save the words.) We heated our house with a wood burning stove. The wood burner saved on fuel for winter heating. We would turn the burner on only for hot water for showers. Since our house was old and large, a lot of fuel would be saved in this manner. Within a few months we realized that this plan was working. We saw that in aquiring rental properties and placing them in service, we could buy properties with positive cash flows. A positive cash flow of $100 per month brought in about $3 per day. It does not sound like a lot but when you calculate in expected appreciation of the property and possible rent increases, this plan looked even better. We thus started to look for more properties. We found another farm in Bedminster Township. The cost was $195,000 for 8+ acres, 2 houses, 2 barns and machinery storage sheds. I estimated that there would be $3500 per month in rents that would support this price. After buying this property our first months rent was $3450 !!! With taxes and insurances, we made at least $1000 per month on this farm. We also planted trees and shrubs on this property and put in a few cows. In seeing that this method was working, I went to the public library. We got books on how to buy and manage real estate. I read everything I could. The book,”Nothing Down” by Robert Allen was an eye opener. It confirmed many of our stratagies. Almost every deal on real estate that we did was with nothing down or creative financing. Every property had to make a positive cash flow. We never bought a property to flip. We became a buy and hold persons. We did buy a few single family homes, but concentrated on farms and land. Gradually our gross income and net income allowed me to quit my day job. That took almost ten years. As we had more and more spendable income, we would invest it in more types and kinds of trees. During the early years, we wanted to plant trees that we could market through newspaper ads. Newspaper ads allowed me to have a store without hours. People would call in for information instead of visiting my location. This saves a lot of time. A phone answering machine acted as my secretary. We would take orders over the phone and deleiver and plant nursery stock directly to the homeowner. Our adds targeted customers who wanted screens and privacy fences. They tended to buy large numbers of small pines, spruces, and arborvitae schrubs and trees. One could deliever 20 2- 3′ white pines on a pickup truck and plant them in an evening. At $8 ea we would gross $160 Our tree cost was 20 cents ea. or about $2.00 per order. We all gained valuable lessons in planting trees in a wide range of conditions. Without a doubt I can conclusively say that I now have found that money does grow on trees. My uncle Bill was right. His secret market information was exactly as I had thought when I was 5 years old. Only after enjoying the trees and nurturing them over the years did I realise that it wasn’t for money that he wanted to raise trees, it was for satisfaction in the way of life and quality time that I have been blessed with in following my dream.

P.S. 30 acres being cleared
A 30 acre field in Doylestown Has to be cleared this month. We still have about 150 flowering pear trees to be dug. The field next to this plot is the next to be bull dozed. We have app. 60 acres of stock there.
Year 2006 Free Stuff:
We will be giving away free bibles that we got out of the trash as supply lasts. We also want to get rid of some surplus stock. I will determine how much free stock is given away by the size of your order. The more you buy the more you will be given. I want your trucks to go home full so you don’t waste gas.

These days much is written about SEO (Search Engine Optimizations) and a large portion of the content is aimed for the best search engine of the world, Google. However, it seems that very few of these contents are about Google’s blog search. Many people assume that Google’s web search is most important and Google’s web search blogs are covered too. Well, I hate to say that their view is not wrong but at the same time, I like to add that being listed in Google Blog Search can benefit you greatly too.
These days, having blog is a very common matter. First of all, blog is free and at the same time blogs in Blogger is free of advertisements too. Even you can add your own advertisements and earn money. There is no limitation of bandwidth and hardly any web designing skill is required. With the number of blogs increasing, the amount of content is increasing too everyday. Most of all, the number of visitors to blog is increasing and thus blog is becoming a serious market. Thus the importance of being listed in Google Blog Search is becoming more important.
The first place that a person should aim for getting enlisted in the ” Related Blogs” area which is top. When you search a keyword then if there are blogs dedicated to that keyword then those blogs are shown in the top of the search. Thus if you search for “Asian Business” in Google’s blog search then you can find my blog in the third position among ” Related Blogs”. Thus every time, someone searches for ‘Asian Business’ my blog is coming to them. This is surely a great blessing for any blog owner. It can result into bringing more traffic for the blog. May be asian business is not a very popular keyword but think of the matter that if your blog with a very popular theme like earning money or health and fitness can be enlisted in the “Related Blogs” place then it may really bring you hundreds of visitors every day.
Secondly, being enlisted in such a place is also the dream of any blog owner and it is very prestigious. This means that when you bargain with any company about advertisement you have surely got an edge. Just being in that list can ensure you get some extra dollar simply because the advertisers would surely prefer a blog which is considered by Google to be related to the keyword.

PPC (Pay-per-click) ads are very effective. The only problem is that you have to pay to keep the ads running. The same is true with every form of promotion or advertising that you can think of. Even directories and websites that post other people’s articles periodically clean out older, less relevant content.
That’s the big difference between blog posts and other content on the net. Blog posts linger on the World Wide Web forever. This can be a huge disadvantage in that any scandal or negative story about your business will always be out there long after the issue has been resolved, settled and forgotten. But why worry about things you can’t change? Why dwell on the negative when you can cash in big on the positive?
You Can Earn Cash From A Single Blog Post For Years
For those of us who were direct marketers in the offline days, this really is a big thing. You make a single post, like the one I recently came across about the new Chitika eMiniMalls PPC (pay-per-click) ads making more money for some blogger than Adsense ads. There are already hundreds of sites linking to this particular post, meaning that it will continue to receive heavy traffic for a long time to come. On closer examination I realized that the blogger responsible for the post is really a smart cookie because the blog post is littered with his affiliate links to the Chitika eMiniMalls PPC program. Judging from the hits he’s received so far, he’s already made a handsome return on his affiliate program. But picture this; he will continue to do so from this single post for such a long time that this single revenue stream could easily outlive him.
Little wonder that some sites that were only recently starved of visitors have quickly built a blog or two pointing to their site and within a few short months have found themselves with a crowd-control problem on their website.
As In Life, The Older Your Blog Post, The More Links It Accumulates
The mystery behind the huge success of blogs is in one word - links. The power of this rapid linking on the blogosphere can best be illustrated when you post something really controversial. Like prison torture photographs or corporate secrets of a famous Fortune 500 company. Hundreds and maybe thousands of other blogs link to you in a flash and suddenly your blog has a huge audience and the sort of 7 digit traffic figures that ordinary sites take years of sweat and tears to build.
That’s the ideal situation. But we don’t all have controversial torture photographs from some prison. So what happens is that the process of linking and building up traffic is much slower for many ordinary blogs. Actually it is closer to the real-life situation. When a person gets their start in a certain career, it takes them years to build up useful contacts (the equivalent of links in the offline world).
That’s why it is an important advantage that blog posts remain for a long time. It means that over a certain period of time, you can be busy building up your links and within a relatively short period of time you could easily find that you have a huge online audience. And you will have achieved this from doing little else than ensuring that your posts are of good quality and then being just a little patient.
Say you had about 50 posts at your blog and over a period of three months or so, each of those posts accumulated about 50 links each (not a very difficult feat to achieve). You would end up with 2,500 links, which should give you very high traffic on a daily basis. Now remember that your posts will linger for ages on the net and all the time, you are still accumulating even more links and hopefully creating new posts all the time.
This explains the reason why blogs with a higher number of posts always tend to have much higher traffic than blogs with a lower amount of posts.
Now you are beginning to understand the real power of blogs and blogging.
